After collapsing central government of Somalia in 1991

Extensive fighting, endemic poverty, recurrent droughts, and internally displaced persons (IDPs), including long-term IDPs and
individuals displaced by increased fighting The combined effects of consecutive seasons of
failed or poor rainfall, continuing conflict, rising inflation, massive displacement, and diarrheal
disease outbreaks have severely exacerbated food insecurity and resulted in a significant
increase in acute malnutrition rates,

OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION

The main objectives of (MEUC) are:

  •  To improve access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities and facilitate acceptable standards of humanitarian services for displaced persons and refugees
  • Exhibit the potential need of the community and develop the standard of living/health by solve basic problems facing the lives of the community in sustainable and  participatory approach.
  • To enhance education and skill training opportunities for youth and adults and to help to strengthen educational systems and livelihood standards.
  • To work for social economy in rural community through the creating of community  centers
  • To increase self-sufficiency in among women and children through income generating  projects and skills development

MEAC works to reduce poverty and human suffering in emergency and disaster situations and contribute to an overall improvement in the standard of living and quality of life for communities in Somalia.
